Web Sites with Purpose
Welc
ome to Just Web-Sites…Creating a web site where content is king. The most important question you can ask about your web site is what is it’s purpose. Until the purpose of your business and website is clear, nothing else really matters. Too often a website lacks the focus of a clear purpose and visitors are quickly confused and click away.
It’s an established fact that Internet users are increasingly impatient and intolerable. A website visitor will not spend their precious time trying to figure out what the site is about (or how it can benefit them). Web sites with a well defined purpose stand out and a visitor should instantly recognize it without effort.
Almost all web sites have a purpose to inform, persuade, or socialize. Each of these purposes may intersect or be the sole supporting purpose of a site.
Most small business web sites exist in order to persuade visitors to do business with them. The action business owners anticipate from visitors is to either make a step towards doing business with them or at least take a small step in the right direction through email sign up, comments on blogs, request more information through forms, or purchasing on-line.
Many small, medium or large businesses, whether they be a commercial endeavor or a non profit, seek to inform visitors about their
industry. They may offer political information, social advice, or educational information. The end goal is that the visitors will support their company, or cause, as their own.
Many companies have developed major web sites as social networks. These sites primary purpose is to enable people worldwide to get acquainted with people who would otherwise be strangers. Some of the most popular social sites are Facebook, Twitter and Linked-in.
